MIMM: ‘Tis The Season

Hey! Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving weekend :) It’s not really a happy monday because everyone’s back at work and I’m planning on wearing my loosest, flowiest outfit after a serious indulging weekend but let’s just focus try on the positive/marvelous…

Marvelous is….going to see Keith Urban a week ago. I’m not a really loyal music fan…I’ll like individual songs, but usually dislike the artist. I watch music award shows and hate everyone (can we please let taylor swift leave an award show without lavishing her with awards?! homegirl should never ever ever ever ever win vocalist awards over  carrie underwood, which keeps happening) — Keith is the only artist I’m really steadfastly loyal to. He came to Baltimore in September for NFL kick-off and performed a few songs. I’m so thankful my two co-workers/friends are country music fans and we all went.  After the show we were talking about how good he was and how we would have paid for it. So we bought tickets and drove an hour to George Mason to see him. It was incredible. He is SO GOOD. I really wasn’t totally sure how it would be for a whole set, because in interviews he’s totally shy and nervous, but he was so playful and goofy in concert and kept running into the crowd (never our section, of course) to sing. Plus, to quote my sister who also went to see him the day before we did, “He shreds the shit out of a guitar.” The people in the row behind us were on “pick-watch” to spot if he was actually using a pick or not whenever the cameras would zoom in on his fingers. It’s sad he’s so underrated because it was the best show I’ve ever seen. He played for 2.5 hours! I wonder what it’s like to be so talented?! If I could sing/play like that, I’d never shut up. Oh wait.

Marvelous is….Thanksgiving and family time. My parents were in their element with all three of us home and our Labradoodle Maggie’s tail got a serious work-out with all the wagging. We saw both sides of the family and it was terrific with so many laughs as always. Our estranged uncle even came to dinner which is something we were all so very thankful for. And if you follow me on Instagram, you saw I was Instagram’ming Maggie every .12 seconds sooo.

Marvelous is…the upcoming holidays. I know time is going to fly and pretty soon it’ll be Christmas. I’m home practically every weekend in December for the holiday party circuit. I love the holiday parties (although picking out outfits and getting ready is another story…) and how often I see family. Although I reallllllllly hate picking out gifts…not one of my talents. I want to just give everyone amazon gift cards, ha. It’s also the season of advent calendars! My uncle gives all the kids advent calendars at thanksgiving. I’ve already eaten the chocolates of the 24th and 25th because I obviously will be home in PA and will be unable to eat the chocolates then. :)

Marvelous is….Cyber Monday! I hate crowds. I hate feeling rushed or frantic. So Black Friday is so very far from anything I’d ever put myself down in the middle of. Cyber Monday is so my speed.

Marvelous is…this song. I know LeAnn Rimes has gone off the rails in the last few years but this song is a classic and makes me want to pack up and do exactly what she’s talking about.

linking up w/ katie.

  1. I haven’t really used many protein powders before but of the ones I’ve tried I love Sun Warriors Vanilla one the best.

Like you I am hoping to pounce on some cyber Monday deals but in Australia they block us from getting all the same deals as you guys get once you put in that it is to be shipped to Australia as usually for some of the same products other companies here try and charge us more. But I am still hopeful of maybe getting some more sweaters and gym gear is always good :)

Sounds like you had a great thanksgiving.

  2. I already did some damage on Black Friday. Not like I need more clothes but the sales were SO good. Ugh. I need to buy a new laptop so I’m on the lookout for that during cyber monday sales. Pumpkin Pie is delicious, but I think I like warm apple pie a la mode better. I think I won’t be able to eat for two weeks so I might be inviting myself over to your apt to eat smoothies you make in your vitamix :)

  3. Your holiday weekend sounds fabulous. Just imaging Maggie waggling her tail makes me smile. Pets are the best aren’t they? :)

My favorite protein powder would probably be Gaspari Nutrition products. I’m huge into their MyoFusion brand – although CLICK and Milkshake Bar comes in a close 2nd and third.

    • ah they really are the best :) they can teach us so much. thanks! i’ll look into those brands and now i’m off for one of my fave WIAW traditions- ogling your eats!

  4. I’ve been dying to get some new tops from Banana Republic but I’m trying to keep my credit card from crying. I’m a much bigger fan of cyber Monday than Black Friday, I hate dealing with crowds too. Blegh!

  5. I’m a fan of Sunwarrior or Manitoba Harvest (because I LOVE all things Canadian) protein powders.

I’ve never even heard of Cyber Monday..until today..and only learned about what Black Friday was about 10 years ago..I’m not the greatest shopper, unless it’s grocery shopping :P

I remember that song btw..I actually really liked her music!

    • i hear such good things about sunwarrior i need to check ‘em out.yeah i heard about cyber monday a few years ago and sighed in relief. much more my speed! i lovelovelove one way ticket and plus the video is hilariously cheesy.

  6. I am a huge country music fan but have yet to see Keith Urban in concert – next time he’s in the area I’ll definitely have to get tickets. If you like any of Blake Shelton’s songs – his concerts are with the price. He is hysterical and involves the crowd alot!

  7. Oh, I’m soooooo not a Black Friday shopper. Between the crowds, the pushing, and the general frenzy, it all seems like my own personal hell. I wound up going to Target at 10:30 on Black Friday, though, and it was….totally normal. The electronics section was busy, but other than that it was no different from any other day. My best guess is that the real mayhem goes down early in the morning, so it must’ve died down by the time I got there. Whoda thunk?!

It’s fantastic that you had such a good time at the Keith Urban concert (and you’re right, he’s awesome) and that your Thanksgiving was wonderful! Hooray for awesome memories from both experiences. :)

    • haha i know i asked that question because i myself am so divided. i love them both way too much. and yes- some people are so good at giving gifts and i’m so horrible.

  8. Pumpkin Pie!!! :D I always go shopping on Black Friday with my Grandma.. and usually we both don’t get much except wrapping paper. :p We did pretty good this year though. I couldn’t find many good things on Cyber Monday this year. boo!
